DAILY DEVOTIONAL

I loved this devotional I read today in: "Called Magazine", Volume 2, Issue 20: June 01, 2011,  and thought I'd share it with you.

Countless Christians are waiting on secondary things before aggressively charging forward with their ministry. But, in order to confidently move forward, all we need is the power of our testimony. The Holy Spirit will equip us with everything else along the way.

In John chapter 4, the Samaritan woman at the well did not wait before sharing her encounter with Christ. Verse 28 states:

"Leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 'Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?'" The passage continues to state that (because of the woman's testimony) the people "came out of the town and made their way toward Jesus."

It's important for us to note that the woman left her water jar at the well, and immediately went to evangelize. She didn't wait to consult with an advisory board. She didn't wait to be ordained as a minister. She didn't wait to attend seminary. And, she didn't wait to raise ministerial funds. Rather, she immediately went to share the Good News. All she needed was her personal encounter with Christ. Her message was too urgent to wait.

God wants you to go immediately.
And, He wants you to go assertively.
You have your testimony.

In the 1800s, when God told Evangelist Maria Woodworth-Etter to "go to the highways and hedges and gather the lost sheep," she thought she needed to first study and prepare. But, in a vision, Jesus told her that souls were perishing and she could not wait to get ready. As a result, she immediately started to minister in her local area and many people were saved. Eventually, she held nine revivals and started two local churches. Some of her meetings had over 25,000 attendees.

Like the Samaritan woman and Maria Woodworth-Etter, we cannot wait to charge forward with our ministry. We must share, teach, and preach the Gospel with the power of our testimony. Go immediately! The Holy Spirit will develop and train you along the way. It's "not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit," says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).

Verse of the Day

12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
